The Vision for Kumu AI
Kumu AI was born from a desire to provide underrepresented students in rural Hawaii with the same guidance and opportunities available in more urbanized areas. We believe that technology, when thoughtfully applied, can be a powerful force for equity and empowerment.
Our platform is more than just a tool; it's a companion on a student's journey. It's a Kumu (teacher) that understands their unique cultural context, a guide that illuminates paths to local careers, and a safe space that supports their well-being.

A Message from the Creator
Aloha! I’m Chelsey, I’m a sophomore at King Kekaulike High School with a curiosity and knowledge in STEM. I’ve spent time exploring everything from artificial intelligence to environmental innovation in order to make a real impact on Hawai’i.
And I love the opportunity to show my passion through my projects, this being Kumu AI! I noticed the opportunity gap from Maui and other neighboring islands to the mainland so I wanted to help my community by providing an AI tool to help with opportunity matching and also career exploration! I added more features like check-ins and more.
